Who is better, Robert Jordan or Stephen King?
I am currently reading The Dark Tower and I just had to know, who do you think is better, Robert Jordan or Stephen King. I now think King is better, in that I like his prose more. The way the stream of consciousness often breaks up all the time highlighting the characters metal and emotional state.
RJ is also fabulous in that way especially how he puts the characters feelings as part of the main novels. (I mean he doesn’t say he thought and she thought all the time.)
Who do you think is better and why?
p.s. Don’t tell me RJ was extending the books to make money, I’ve heard that more than enough times and King has over 200 stories to his name.
It is really an Apples to Oranges question. I have read them both and love them both. I am not one of those Jordan bashers out there who claims that he was inflating his story. I have always loved the full rich picture he paints. Honestly, if I had to compare the two, stories (Dark Tower vs. Wheel of Time) I would vote for Jordan. If I was looking at both author’s entire cannon I would vote for King by far.
My opinion may well change once WoT’s final volume is complete (by all reports I have found, Jordan made sure the final volume would be completed before he passed away). It is difficult comparing a finished work with one yet to be resolved. Still I vote for WoT (at least for now).
