What is Final Fantasy? (Detailed)?
To get things straight, I only know most people from Crisis Core (seeing as it is the first Final Fantasy game Ive played) like Zack, Cloud, Sephiroth, etc. I wanna learn the basics of what Final Fantasy is. For example, the plot of the whole series. I also want to know if there is any games that continue Crisis Core right after Cloud suceeds Zack Fair when he dies. Sorry I dont really know much about it. Also, if you could jot down some anime/films of Final Fantasy revolving around Cloud or Zack Fair would be great! Thanks!
Most Final Fantasy games don’t actually follow on from the others. Each introduces a whole new world, facing a whole new apocalypse, with a whole new cast of characters to avert it. They have absolutely no connection to each other for the most part. The main exception to this is Final Fantasy VII, which has some other games and a movie which act as both prequels and sequels for the events in Final Fantasy VII. (This is the Final Fantasy with Cloud and Sephiroth) Final Fantasy Crisis Core is a PREQUEL to Final Fantasy VII. It shows more about Cloud’s past, which was only really briefly explained in Final Fantasy VII. Also there’s Final Fantasy Advent Children, which shows events AFTER the Final Fantasy VII game.
If it’s Cloud and those other characters you’re interested in learning more about, then I suggest watching that movie and maybe playing Final Fantasy VII too, as this contains the majority of the plot. The film makes a lot less sense if you haven’t played FFVII, but it is a PS1 game and has pretty poor graphics, so you might not be interested.
Both the games and the movie are absolutely amazing, though. I definitely recommend them.
There’s also the PS2 game “Final Fantasy: Dirge of Cerberus.” Which follows Vincent Valentine and explains more about HIS past. Vincent is another character from Final Fantasy VII. Though unlike the other Final Fantasy games, this one is a shooting game, rather than an RPG. It does still contain many of the RPG elements though, and also some of the items. Like potions and so on. It also features highly customizable guns.
