I wasn’t entirely awesome with Tiger jumping into golf design, and I am flat-out AGAINST Phil following suit together with his new design endeavors, although for different reasons.
With Tiger, my beef was essentially that he’s a sell-out who is going to do only increase vegetables costs while the overall game needs less expensive options.
For Phil, my issue is simple: He’s left-handed.
It does not have a genius to understand Phil’s design strategy (or conspiracy) will pander to left-handed golfers, all 5 % of these. Us righty’s have loved numerous decades having a monopoly of courses created by individuals who play golf the “right” way.
Now Phil is to rain on our parade. Surely he’s plotting a number of subtle design nuances which will provide the edge to more inferior lefty gamers. Tee boxes may have little humps making it flatter to tee off lefty. Sand traps all will be short and right from the eco-friendly. That is not all. Ball washing machines is going to be on the other side from the tee box. If history can train us anything, it’s that being left-handed is really a curse.
